Recently, a well-known Indian film director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced that he is making a Netflix series on ‘Lahore’s infamous Heera Mandi’. However, Pakistani sought-after television and film actress, Ushna Shah slammed him for taking away opportunities from Pakistani artists.
She further went on to say that ‘Heeramandi’ is in Lahore, Pakistan, and…India has its own culture and its history… It’s like a Pakistani director making Mahabharata.
She further explained that it would lose its authenticity. Also, she wrote the Urdu language and its origin.
Additionally, she said, the Pakistani film and entertainment industry has many young stars and filmmakers who have studied film and would love to make films on historical subjects. Simply, they have not given them a chance and taking away their opportunities.
She also said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali would make it beautiful but it would be more beautiful if he would collaborate with a Pakistani film director, Saqib Malik.
Ushna Shah shared her opinion in a form of a lengthy note dropped in the comment section. She is still sticking on it.
