The Substance director Coralie Fargeat has revealed that the body horror won’t have any sequels or prequels.
The Substance, starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film also won the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year

When asked by Variety if the gory film will have a sequel, Fargeat replied: “No, the point of this movie is to present fresh things to the world. Like, no sequels, no prequels, no number two [or] number three. So, I’m going to be still happy to bring something fresh to the world in a bit.”
Both Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley have received Golden Globes nominations for their performance in The Substance, with the former getting the Best Actress nomination, and the latter the Best Supporting Actress nomination.
