Star Wars actor Angus MacInnes passed away on December 23.

The actor who is best known for his character in the first film as Gold Leader, Jon “Dutch” Vander died “peacefully” at the age of 77 at his home.

MacInnes’s family took to Facebook to share the sad news ‘to all Angus” fans.

They wrote, “Angus MacInnes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and actor died on 23rd of December 2024. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his family and love.”

MacInnes’s acting career produced memorable roles in movies including Judge Dredd, Star Wars: A New Hope, Captain Phillips, and many others.

The statement continued, “His work touched countless lives, and he took great pride in being part of these stories that continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.”

“He was continually humbled, delighted, and honored by the admiration and passion of the fans and convention community,” the family noted about Maclnnes’ traits as a person. “Angus was more than an actor—he was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul who brought warmth and humor into the lives of everyone who knew him.”

“He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fellow actors but also by his fans around the world – his family thank you all,” the tribute concluded. “The MacInnes Family Angus MacInnes 1947-2024.”
