‘Squid Game’ director slams actor for ‘ruining’ his work

Netflix’s viral series Squid Game has been riddled with controversies ever since the release of its second season in December.

The latest scandal centers on the actor Park Sung Hoon who portrays one of the central characters in the new season.

The actor took to his Instagram to display the cover of an adult parody of Squid Game, much to the surprise of his fans.

Soon after, the director of the series, Hwang Dong Hyeok, expressed his disappointment at Park’s actions.

“It was so unpleasant to see. I was aware there were AV parodies like that overseas since season one. Since it’s overseas and not domestic, we can’t stop it, and it’s frustrating,” he explained.

He continued, “It ruins the meaning of the work itself. I haven’t talked to Park Sung Hoon yet, but I, too, am also curious as to why he posted something like that.”

Fans were appalled by the plot of the parody, which depicts women being fatally assaulted. His agency soon released a statement, claiming it had been an accident.

“Park Sung Hoon received many DMs on social media and accidentally uploaded it while checking DMs. The actor himself is also surprised and apologizes for making such a mistake in these times. He will be careful not to let something like this happen again.”

However, they soon released an update, writing, “The photo was received via DM and saved to his photo album while he was forwarding it to a company representative.”

Fans were not pleased with the explanation and insisted that the statements were contradicting each other.
