Director Shamoon Abbasi’s statement seems that he indirectly hit at the producers of Pakistan’s most popular drama serial ‘Mere Pass Tum Ho’. In his recent interview with actor Ahsan Khan, Shamoon Abbasi criticized the producers who compare the local drama serials with internationally most-watched show ‘Game Of Thrones.’ Shamoon Abbasi says, this is hilarious to compare local dramas with ‘Games of Thrones.’
Alongside this, the director Shamoon Abbasi said that this constant talk of how numbers have crossed Game of Thrones and Avengers makes him laugh. At least we should not pass such kind of queer statements. he added.
The fact is, Abbasi didn’t disclose names, last month the CEO of ARY Salman Iqbal tweeted in which he compared the finale of Mere Pass Tum Ho with Games Of Thrones.
Last I heard of any serial finale was #GameOfThrones ! And now I hear of #MerePaasTumHo . I am just proud where our industry has reached! I am immensely proud to be a part of this fraternity and part of creating tv history! @iamhumayunsaeed @adnanactor @nadeembaigg

While conversation, Shamoon Abbasi gave an example of how social media had to be blocked for six hours in the west when ‘Game Of Thrones’ broadcast last year. What was the reason behind it? It was just to restrict the spoilers. Do we have such control over dramas even for just five minutes?
He also discussed local producers who have a backward perception of the masses. The actor said that local films don’t make money. In this way, producers should pick original subject matter to make films that are more relatable to the local audience and this way, the audience’s attention can be increased.
