Selena Gomez revealed how her fatherly Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short reacted to Benny Blanco engagement.
Gomez talked about the proposal during an appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday.
When asked by the host if Benny asked Martin and Steve for permission, she said: “He didn’t… but I have a feeling Marty wasn’t very happy about that.”
“He just gave us a little bit of jokes here and there,” she said of the comedian’s reaction to their engagement.
Kimmel then asked about Steve’s reaction to the news, and the Emilia Perez actress replied: “Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations. That’s how he communicates.”
Kimmel asked: “Is it possible that Steve thinks he is reaching out to you?” Gomez remarked, “Well, that’s a good question.”
The singer noted that Steve “always tries to be polite and it’s very kind but it’s OK to send a little text.”
This comes after the 2025 Golden Globes where Gomez was nominated for her roles in Only Murders in The Building as well as Emilia Perez. She lost the Emilia Perez Globe to co-star Zoe Saldana and her Only Murders award to Hacks star Jean Smart.
