Scheana Shay reacts to James Kennedy’s arrest
‘Wedding Day’ actress Scheana Shay shares her raw take on James Kennedy’s arrest
Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay has broken her silence regarding the recent arrest of her former co-star James Kennedy on suspicion of domestic violence.
During the December 27 episode of her Scheananigans podcast, Shay expressed hope that the incident marked his “rock bottom” and shared how she has been supporting Kennedy’s girlfriend, Ally Lewber, throughout this difficult time.
The 39-year-old TV personality explained that she had stayed silent out of respect for Lewber’s privacy because she had requested it.
Articulating her thoughts, Shay quipped, “I didn’t wanna add to any headlines because she’s going through enough right now.”
While the Mouthpiece actress initially planned to keep the topic off her podcast, she acknowledged that she understood how “that’s coming off.”
She said, “I have spoken to Ali. I check in with her often. I always have. But I know it seems like if I stay silent, y’all somehow think I support his behaviour, which I absolutely do not.”
Moving forward, she shared that she has felt “a lot of empathy” for Kennedy’s ex-fiancé Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, whom she supported and let stay at her home during their friendship.
The Wedding Day star stated that while Leviss “always told me that Kennedy was never physically abusive,” noting that “abuse isn’t limited to just physical, and ultimately, it led to her exiting that relationship.”
She went on to remark that she hopes Kennedy “learns from his mistakes.”
“I do hope that James views this as a rock-bottom moment and is serious about than just committing to a healing plan versus just seeing this as something that’s gonna like ruin the world tour or residency or whatever,” The Good as Gold singer highlighted.
Shay concluded by shariing that she had seen Kennedy’s name removed from some shows, calling it a “direct consequence to his actions.”
For the unversed, on December 10, Kennedy was arrested for misdemeanour domestic violence following the Burbank Police’s response to an argument at his Los Angeles home.
It is pertinent to mention that, per TMZ, a witness allegedly saw the DJ get physical with an anonymous woman.
However, authorities did not find injuries when they arrived, and Kennedy was later released on a $20,000 bail.
