Sabrina Carpenter made her first public remarks about relationships following her recent breakup with the actor Barry Keoghan.
The 25-year-old surprised fans on Tuesday night with an appearance at Jack Antonoff’s annual Ally Coalition talent show at NYU’s Skirball Theatre.
According to Daily Mail, Carpenter performed her song Slim Pickins alongside Antonoff, while sharing that the track was inspired by the saying, “there’s plenty of fish in the sea.”
While addressing the audience, she dismissed the expression as “a big fat lie.”
Moreover, the comment came weeks after Carpenter and Keoghan ended their year-long relationship earlier this month, amid speculation that the breakup for linked to rumours of infidelity involving influencer Breckie Hill, as per the publication.Â
In response to the controversy, Keoghan deactivated his Instagram and released a statement on X, denouncing “lies, hatred, and disgusting commentary” surrounding his personal life.
Meanwhile, he emphasized his desire to focus on his family and his work, highlighting the challenges of public scrutiny.
Additionally, Carpenter has stayed busy with her work life, as she is promoting her Me Espresso fragrance and is said to be making an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Furthermore, the former couple, last seen together at the 2024 Met Gala, reportedly struggled to maintain their relationship due to conflicting schedules and Carpenter’s demanding career, as per the outlet.Â
