Rumeysa Gelgi wants to use record to celebrate differences

A Turkish lady, Rumeysa Gelgi has always stood out as she earned a title of the World’s Tallest Woman. She is basically from Safranbolu, Turkey, and 2 metres 15 centimetres (7 feet, 0.7 inches) tall wants to use record to celebrate differences.

The 24-year-old lady confirmed this week as the world’s tallest woman by Guinness World Records, was born with Weaver Syndrome which is a rare genetic disease that causes rapid growth among other abnormalities.

Rumeysa Gelgi said that being different is not bad as you think. It can bring success in unexpected ways. She told reporters as she proudly stood up with the help of her walking frame. It’s her second world record, after being confirmed as the tallest teenager in 2014, at the age of 18. She relies on a wheelchair or a frame to move around.

She wants to use the title to raise awareness about rare genetic disease, Weaver Syndrome. She thinks that differences and other features which seem like a disadvantage can be turned to advantages. read more...[1]The News
