On Sunday,23rd February 2020, it has been announced that PSL2020- Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy to be honored with the Citizenship of Pakistan and will be awarded Nishan-e-Pakistan. The honorary citizenship will be given to him for the recognition of his work.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Darren Sammy, one of the first foreign cricketers who agreed to come and play cricket in Pakistan. He would be honored with the civilian award which will be given by President Arif Alvi on 23rd March 2020.

Darren Sammy is a victor of numerous titles and accolades as he is the two time T20 World Cup-winning captain. He has contributed a lot in the field of cricket.
In 2014, he became the first person who belongs to the Island of St.Lucia to play cricket at the international level, and not only this but in the same year, he made his ODI (One Day International) debut against Bangladesh. Likewise, he won a lot of honors who make him stand out among all.
Getting the Honorary Citizenship of Pakistan is another huge honor for him and he feels proud that he would play for Pakistan. The star thanked Pakistan for the love shown to him.
