Paris Jackson proudly marks five years of sobriety
The singer-songwriter expressed gratitude for her sentimental journey in an emotional post
Paris Jackson is going strong in her journey of sobriety.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter took to her official Instagram account on Tuesday to mark her five years of being “clean and sober” and shared a video showing her journey throughout the years.
The video began with showcasing the daughter of late Michael Jackson, consuming alcohol and proceeded to more recent moments of her singing, going adventurous, and attending different events.
“To those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle or the whole time so far, you know who you are,” reads the message at the end of the clip. “Thank you. 5 years. THANK GOD.”
She also penned down a detailed caption sharing her struggle, emotions of grief, laughter, and gratefulness.
“Hi, I’m pk and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,” Paris began.
“Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism,” she continued. “Gratitude hardly scratches the surface. It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today.”
“I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all it’s glory,” she explained. “I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to show up for it,” she said. “Here’s a little snapshot of what has been possible because of my sobriety, and my god I can’t believe I almost missed it all.”
