‘Nosferatu’ star Lily Rose Depp reflects on disadvantage of fame for actors

Lily-Rose Depp is reflecting on the downside of fame for actors as her new movie Nosferatu collects rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Lily, 25, shared in a new interview that she wants to maintain her privacy because fans getting to know too much about an actor prevents them from believing the actor’s performance in a character.

“People are interested in things that they shouldn’t necessarily be interested in,” she told Entertainment Network.

“And the job of an actor is to go into a character, melt into it and make the audience believe you are this character,” The King star explained.

“In order to do that, it’s important to protect a sense of anonymity – they’re not supposed to get to know ‘you’ that well, because you want them to believe you as other characters,” she added.

In Robert Egger’s Nosferatu, Lily plays Ellen Hutter, the woman Bill Skarsgard’s vampire Count Orlok gets obsessed with.

Alongside Depp and Skarsgard, Nosferatu boasts an ensemble cast which includes Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, Ellen’s husband, Willem Dafoe as Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, a vampire hunter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Thomas’ friend Friedrich, and Emma Corrin as his wife Anna Harding.
