The horrific incident took place in a house, located in upscale sector F-7/4 in Islamabad. The police said Noor was shot at before she was “slaughtered” hit with a sharp object. The person accused of murdering her has been arrested and is said to be the son of a business tycoon.
Zahir Jaffar, a friend of Noor Mukadam whom she was visiting on the night she was brutally murdered at his house. Zahir Jaffar was immediately arrested and is being interrogated. He is a businessman and is said to have some psychological issues, according to the initial reports.
According to Zahir’s family, he is a drug addict and mentally unstable.
SSP (investigation) Ataur Rehman held a press conference to address what he said were different claims on social media about the killing. He was asked about Zahir’s widely rumored drug abuse history.
In response, SSP Rehman said while the drug usage was not the domain of the police investigation, “when we arrested him, he was sound and in his senses. He may have had a history [of taking drugs] but at least at this time he was completely in his senses.”
“When the accused was arrested, he was not drunk at all and he was sound and in his senses at the time of his arrest. He was allegedly tied up when he tried to attack someone else.” the police further added.
He summarized that police were focusing on Zahir’s “mental frame of mind” and the final resuslts indicated that he knew what he was doing. Zahir Jaffar was completely aware of his actions when he allegedly committed the murder of Noor Mukadam.
“Whenever someone’s brutal murder is carried out then we shouldn’t care about the financial position of the culprit even if they are the son of a very influential father.” Answering a question, Rehman said.
According to SSP Rehman, police had been alerted to the incident by a local resident and immediately reached the crime scene since the police station was “hardly at a distance of 10 minutes” from the house.
He said police had acted swiftly, immediately arresting the suspect and covering the crime scene, while evidence was collected by the forensic science agency. “This way we have made the full effort that not a single piece of evidence is destroyed,” he added.
“The special team was made because this case is very important for us,” he said, stressing that police were “standing with the aggrieved family, and getting them every kind of justice is our duty and responsibility”.
