New scandal pours cold water on King Charles’ hopes
The king’s brother, Prince Andrew, is hit by another scandal
King Charles’s efforts to convince Prince William and Kate Middleton to bury the hatchet with his younger brother Prince Andrew have gone in vain.
A recent report in Daily Mail said that suggestions to invite Andrew to Kate’s annual carol service were rejected.
The news outlet reported that there was no space for Andrew at the event where 22 members of the extended tribe were present.
According to the report, the monarch has tried very hard to bring his brother back into the family fold, insisting Andrew be given due status.
It also wrote that King Charles tried to get William and Kate to mend their relationship with Andrew during a gathering at Balmoral last year.
The monarch persuaded the couple to to give Andrew a lift to church so the trio could be photographed together.
The Daily Mail reported that the the initiative taken by the king failed.
As King Charles continues his efforts to bring his brother back to the family fold, the Duke of York has been hit by yet another scandal.
Prince Andrew is facing intense media scrutiny on Saturday after revelations that a close Chinese business associate of the scandal-hit younger brother of King Charles was thought by the British government to be a Chinese spy.
In a court ruling on Thursday, it was disclosed that the businessman, known only as H6, had been banned from Britain on national security grounds because the authorities suspected he was working clandestinely for Beijing to forge close contacts with prominent British figures.
The Mirror reported that King Charles had been briefed by MI5 and was “truly exasperated” by the situation.
It’s not clear how Prince William and Kate Middleton would react to the new scandal Prince Andrew got himself involved in but it is expected to widen the gap between the royals.
