Liam Payne’s friend Roger Nores, who was accused of abandoning the One Direction star before his death, shed some light on the day he died.

The businessman friend of the late singer, who has been charged in the case, appeared in a TMZ documentary, TMZ Investigates: Liam Payne: Who’s to Blame? and insisted that he had nothing to do with the late singer’s death.

He claimed Liam was “in good spirits” on the day of his death and was “perfectly balanced”.

Nores, who formed a friendship with the One Direction star in 2020 after they met at an event hosted by Vogue in London, said, “I’m a very good friend of Liam, and I was with him the day that he passed away.”

“He (Liam) was in in good spirits. He was like talking to 10 or 15 Americans that were here for a wedding. And so he was talking to them, and he was joking around,” recalled Nores.

Liam’s friend, who has been charged for negligent homicide, also claimed that there was “nothing out of the ordinary” when it came to Liam’s behaviour on that day after visiting him three times.

Nores said what would be his last goodbye to Liam in the afternoon. In the documentary he said, “I left like at 4:05, or so, and he was in good spirits.”

The friend also hit back again at claims that he abandoned the late singer, saying that he never abandoned Liam, who died on October 16, after falling from a hotel balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened,” Nores said, adding, “There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left.”

Before concluding, he shared that he could have never imagined something like this would happen.
