Hollywood’s prominent actor, Liam Hemsworth opens up about his vegan diet & health issues following his surgery for a painful kidney stone, underwent last year.
The star revealed that he had to reduce his intake of vegan diet due to the surgery, he underwent the surgery months before his separation from singer, Miley Cyrus.
In an interview with Men’s Health for their May issue, the Australian actor shared the experience that pushes him to re-think several aspects of his life and he started with his vegan diet.
In February 2019, he was not feeling well. Then he diagnosed with a kidney stone. That time was the most painful period of his life. For which, he had to undergo the surgery and reduced the intake of vegetables.
While discussing his vegan diet and the link between kidney stone, he said that once you get done the surgery, you’ve 50 percent of chances of getting another one if you continue the way you eat.
He further explained that his kidney stone was calcium oxalate which forms from having too much oxalate in your diet. Vegetables contain high Oxalates, it is particularly present in spinach, beetroot, almonds, and potatoes. He was on a vegan diet for almost 4 years.
He further said, every morning he took almond milk, spinach, almond butter and also some vegan proteins in a smoothie. That’s the reason he felt healthy. But, after the surgery, he had to think about what he was putting in his body.
