King Charles’ charity in crisis after major failures exposed
The King’s Foundation boss caught in major governance failures
King Charles’ charity, The King’s Foundation has been criticised for “unacceptable” practices.
The foundation has come under scrutiny for serious governance failures under former chief executive, Michael Faucett, according to a report by Newsweek.
A report from the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR) revealed “unacceptable” practices.
As quoted by the outlet, the report read, “The inquiry found the historical governance of the charity had not always been up to the standard required. This finding is in relation to the historical approach to decision-making and record-keeping. However, the inquiry did not find evidence of misconduct by any of the former or current trustees who were in office at the time.”
The investigation, which lasted more than three years, came after allegations that Fawcett had offered to help secure a knighthood and UK citizenship for Saudi tycoon Sheikh Marei Mubarak Mahfouz in exchange for charitable donations.
Additionally, the spokesperson for the foundation stated, “As the report acknowledges, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) is satisfied with the improvements made by The King’s Foundation in recent years, including the introduction of new and robust governance practices.”
