Jenna Fischer makes surprising revelation about Amy Adam from ‘The Office’
Jenna Fischer reportedly releases rare truth about Amy Adam almost losing ‘The Office’ role due to their similar looks
John Krasinski’s character Jim Halpert famously had eyes for Jenna Fischer’s Pam on The Office and it turned out that Jim had a distinct type when it came to love interests on the show.
During a recent episode of The Office Ladies podcast, Jenna revealed that Amy Adam wasn’t originally cast as Katy Moore in Season 1’s “Hot Girl”, which aired in April 2005.
According to Deadline, Jenna claimed that the casting team initially filmed the episode with a different actress in the role of Katy, but she was ultimately replaced because she “looked too similar” to Jenna.
In regards to this, Jenna recalled, “We originally shot ‘Hot Girl’ for an entire day with a completely different actress. Unfortunately, she just wasn’t quite right for the role, so they had to let her go and replaced her with Amy.”
Moreover, Jenna, who co-hosts the podcast with Angela Kinsey, also shared that Adams brought something special to the role as she noted, “When Amy came on set, she was so seamlessly Katy. She improvises a lot, and a lot of her improvisations made it into the show. She just knew who this woman was,” as per the publication.
Additionally, despite Adams being the team’s first choice, Fischer explained that there were initial concerns over their similar appearances.
In regards to this, Jenna explained, “There was this concern that Amy and I looked too similar. I guess one of the writers even said, ‘I’m sorry. We can’t cast her. She’s like Jenna 2.0.’”
Furthermore, this comment would later inspire Micheal Scott’s (Steve Carell) famous line in the series, where he refers to Katy as “Pam 6.0,” as per the outlet.
It is worth mentioning that Katy returned in Season 2, appearing in the episodes “The Fire” and “Booze Cruise,” but her relationship with Jim ended as Jim was secretly in love with Pam and the couple eventually got married in the Season 6 two part-episode “Niagara” in 2009.
