Jason Gould has finally revealed why he took a hiatus from Hollywood in 1972 after the release of his debut film Up the Sandbox.
In an interview with SFGate, the actor and singer shared that his break from Showbiz had a lot to do with the attention his mother, Barbra Streisand, received.
“When I was a kid I couldn’t go anywhere without photographers in our face,” said the 57-year-old.
“I don’t like cameras snapping in my face. It’s like being attacked. That’s one reason I kind of laid low [since making The Prince of Tides]. Because I don’t like that kind of attention, I really don’t,” continued the Nature Boy himatker.
“I don’t like fame and what goes with that. I grew up in it,” he added.
For those unversed, Jason stayed out of the spotlight until 1988, when he appeared on The Bronx Zoo for an episode.
He played limited roles in the following years and eventually left acting after co-starring with his mother in 1991’s The Prince of Tides.
