Iconic frontwoman of Blondie, Debbie Harry reveals why she never had kids
Debbie Harry, songstress and actress, has shared a shocking reason behind her decision to not have family
Famous Hollywood singer and actress, Debbie Harry has revealed the reason why she never had children.
Speaking with The Sunday Times, Harry has reason that she never wanted to start a family.
The iconic frontwoman of Blondie told the outlet that “I wanted to get out in the world. Maybe if I’d have been madly in love I would have settled down, but it wasn’t like that for me. I had ambition.”
Harry, who had a long-term relationship with Blondie co-founder Chris Stein in the 1970s and 80s, said, “[My parents] were proud I achieved something because they just thought I was a drug addict. It turns out that I was a drug addict, but I also made music so it was OK. I think they’d be happy with the way my life turned out.”
Additionally, Harry also shared that she is free of nerves when performing now, crediting her years of experience.
“Yup. I have no more nerves now. Experience is the key. It hasn’t all been lucky, but I feel I’ve been treated very generously by the fickle finger of fate and I’m just more content than I used to be. I tried very hard to do something and succeeded, and having some success is a terrific elixir,” she stated.
It is worth mentioning that Blondie, who sold over 40 million records during their heyday, reunited in 1997 after disbanding in 1982.
