Hugh Grant remembers going “from hero to absolutely zero in the space of a second” due to one failed film.

In a new interview with Variety, Grant, who was recently praised by critics for his performance in Heretic, was asked why he ditched the rom com genre, which brought him many successful films.

He said: “I was getting on a bit, let’s face it. And then I made one which was a total failure, and it was amazing. You know, you go from hero to absolutely zero in the space of a second”.

“It didn’t find the audience it deserved. It’s called, Did You Hear About the Morgans?”

The 2009 film also starred Sarah Jessica Parker as Hugh’s estranged wife. The movie was critically panned, but the Notting Hill star says, “It was very charming to me”.

He also named 1995 comedy Nine Months as another film he’s embarrassed about.

“Let me stress, everyone involved with that film, with the exception of me, was brilliant and talented” Hugh explained. “It was just me that let it down”.

Hugh Grant shared: “My wife (Anna Elisabet Eberstein) wants to watch it, but I’ve forbidden her. I’ve put parental controls on the screen so that you can’t get it.”
