Denmark’s royal twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine celebrated their 14th birthday, the first after their father becomes King Frederik following Queen Margrethe’s shocking abdication last year.

The royal family marked the 14th birthday of the royal twins by sharing photos on Instagram.

The stunning photos were taken on the New year eve.

The post reads, “Their Royal Highnesses Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine have a birthday and are turning 14 today.

“Because of the birthday, new pictures of the Prince and Princess are published. The birthday pictures were taken on New Year’s Eve – shortly after the birthday boy’s father had made his first New Year’s speech.”

Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine moved up in the line of succession after their grandmother Queen Margrethe abdicated the throne on January 14 last year.

Queen Margrethe’s eldest son became King Frederik X, while his wife became Queen Mary.

According to the People magazine, Queen Margrethe’s abdication came as a surprise, as she previously said she would rule for her entire life and before her, the last Danish monarch’s abdication was in 1146.
