Demi Moore receives first major acting award in over 45-year career

Demi Moore has received her first award for acting after more than a 45-year-long career.
On Sunday night, the Ghost actress delivered an emotional acceptance speech while receiving Best Female Actor Performance in Comedy or Musical for her acting in Substance at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills.
Recalling the time when, at the age of 30, a producer rejected her and also called her the “popcorn actress,” the 62-year-old began her speech saying, “At that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have.”
“I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged. I bought in, and I believed that.”
“And that corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete. Maybe I’ve done what I was supposed to do.”
“And as I was at kind of a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me that ‘You’re not done’,” she told the crowd.
On the stage, Moore thanked the director, Coralie Fargeat as well and continued, “I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick’”
“And so today, I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness and of the love that is driving me and for the gift of doing something I love and being reminded that I do belong,” she concluded her speech.
It is pertinent to mention that the Hollywood actress was previously nominated for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her performance in Ghost in 1991 and also nominated Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film for If These Walls Could Talk in 1997.
