DC Studios ropes in Jason Momoa for antihero Lobo
Jason Momoa taps as Lobo in DC’s ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’
Jason Momoa is set to return to DC Studios in the universe of James Gunn but not as Aquaman, instead as antihero Lobo in the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
In the DC comics, the character is a bounty hunter from the utopian planet of Czarnia, according to Deadline.
The Dune star has a history of expressing his interest in playing the character.
So when it came to confirming the casting news, he shared a post on Instagram about his previous interview with Fandango, where he was asked about playing the antihero.
“I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,” the Game of Thrones alum said at the time.
“I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a ****, yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play or ask me to audition, I’m there.”
In the meantime, Milly Alcock will be the lead star of the film, which will see Craig Gillespie as the director.
Details about the plot have been kept under wraps, but the movie is said to be a part of the larger DC universe James and his co-partner Peter Safran are building.
