Christian Slater talks about reuniting with Patrick Dempsey after 30 years
Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey reunite in ‘Dexter’ prequel after 30 years of starring in ‘Mobster’
Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey reunited 30 years after their 1991 film Mobster.
Slater and Dempsey are set to appear together in the Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Slater fondly recalled working with the actor on Mobster.
He said, “I had worked with Dempsey 30 years ago on Mobsters and it was a funny gangster movie.”
Speaking about the film, Slater said, “It is a zinger” adding, “It’s really something. We got our Tommy guns and it’s a pretty funny movie.”
In Mobster, Slater played gangster Charlie “Lucky” Luciano and Dempsey starred as Meyer Lansky. Meanwhile, in Dexter prequel Dempsey plays Miami Metro Homicide Captain Aaron Spencer, while Slater takes on the role of Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan.
Slater described reuniting with Dempsey as “wonderful” saying, “It was wonderful to reconnect with [Dempsey]. It was really, really great. Really great.”
Previously, Dempsey shared his experience of working on the series saying, “I’ve had a great time working on it.”
He told the outlet, “The culture within the filming itself has been one of great celebration, joy and fun.”
“It’s a wonderful, really safe, creative environment, and Clyde Phillips, our creator, has created a beautiful culture for us to work in that’s really collaborative,” he added further.
