Aubrey Plaza receives support from celebs following husband’s death
Aubrey Plaza gets Hollywood support after she opened up about her husband Jeff Baena’s tragic death
Aubrey Plaza is receiving an outpouring of support from the Hollywood community following the death of her husband, director Jeff Baena, who was found dead last Friday morning at Los Angeles home.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a suicide by hanging.
According to Daily Mail, Plaza released a brief statement on Monday addressing the loss.
In regard to this, the actress said, “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Moreover, friends and colleagues, including Adrien Brody, Selma Blair, Julia Fox, and Alison Brie, have rallied around Plaza during this difficult time.
At the Golden Globes on Sunday, The Brutalist director Brady Corbet dedicated part of his acceptance speech for Best Director to Plaza and Baena’s family, by saying, “Tonight my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family.”
As the camera panned to the audience, Brody, who stars in The Brutalist, was visibly emotional.
Additionally, Baena was a celebrated filmmaker known for his darkly comedic independent films such as Life After Beth and Joshy, both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Furthermore, he had been in a relationship with Plaza since 2011, and the couple married in 2021.
Selma Blair commented on Plaza’s most recent Instagram post, writing, “No words can touch this painful time,” while Julia Fox sent love and support with a dove emoji.
Alison Brie shared photos of Baena on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a broken heart emoji, and reposted a heartfelt tribute from actor-comedian Adam Pally, who remembered Baena as “a talented director, a generous host, and a cherished friend.”
Pally wrote, “He was a collaborator, a mentor, and the scrappiest basketball player with the ugliest jump shot you ever saw. My heart breaks for Aubrey, the Baena family, and all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing.”
It is worth mentioning that other industry figures, including actress-producer Barbara Crampton and actor-model Rain Dove, offered their condolences by saying, “we love you so much, Aubrey. Take all the space you need to process this.”
