Angelina Jolie is being accused of punishing Brad Pitt as their eight-year-long divorce finalises.

As news emerged of the exes having reached a settlement, a source close to the family rejected on Tuesday Jolie’s characterisation of Pitt, 61, after recent reports said hopes Pitt will “stop attacking her.”

Instead, the insider has accused the Salt actress, 49, of “punishing” her ex with the Château Miraval sale back in 2021 despite their agreement that

“Brad built an extraordinary, increasingly valuable business and she chose to deliberately disregard their agreement,” the Pitt source told People Magazine.

“Sadly, the other side has consistently engaged in similar one-sided attacks for the past eight years, including a never-ending distortion of facts and projecting their own behavior onto others, causing tremendous collateral damage to those in and around the family,” the insider pointed to Jolie’s move with the French winery.

The remarks follow the Monday claims of Jolie’s divorce attorney James Simon of Hersh Mannis that the mother-of-six “will continue to stand up to” her ex-partner of twelve years and former husband of an additional two years.

The insider established that Jolie hopes Pitt can now “move on,” referring to the winery lawsuit.

“Sadly, until [Pitt] drops his lawsuit, this family will not have the peace and healing they so very much desire and deserve.”

“Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over,” the insider further added.

For those unversed, Pitt alleged in a 2022 lawsuit that Jolie made the sale despite a prior agreement that neither would do so unless the other person approved.

In November, Pitt notched a win in the winery battle when Jolie’s motions to dismiss the lawsuit were rejected. The proceedings inclined towards potential proof that there was a written agreement between the former couple about selling, which a Pitt source said “demonstrates the legitimacy of his claims.”

Additionally, Pitt’s sources also established on Tuesday that Jolie “instead of completing negotiations for him to buy her out and keeping Miraval fully in the family and ending the battles,” the actress “instead chose to sell to a total stranger not aligned with the company’s vision so she could take the money for herself and punish him.”

Pitt and Jolie, who share six children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16 — separated in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage.
