Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt’s divorce prolonged for THESE reasons
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finally got divorced after almost 8 years while legal experts weigh in to explain the lengthy process
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially finalized their divorce, more than eight years after the actress initially filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in 2016.
Legal experts suggest the unusually lengthy process resulted from multiple complicating factors, including custody disputes, allegations of misconduct, and disagreements over financial assets.
According to Daily Mail, the couple, who got married in 2014 and share six children, faced challenges from the start.
Meanwhile, Jolie cited irreconcilable differences and requested physical custody of their children, while Pitt was briefly investigated over allegations of verbal and physical abuse during a private flight just before Jolie filed for divorce.
Both the FBI and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services concluded their investigations without filing charges, as per the publication.
Moreover, the custody battle turned contentious, with Jolie and Pitt exchanging accusations in court filings.
Back in 2019, their marital status was legally bifurcated, allowing them to be declared single while other matters remained unresolved.
Subsequent delays arose due to disputes over judges, including the removal of Judge John Ouderkirk in 2021 for ethical breaches, as per the outlet.
Additionally, the divorce process was further prolonged by financial disagreements, including a legal battle over Miraval, the French winery they co-owned.
Meanwhile, Pitt accused Jolie of breaching their agreement by selling her stake without his knowledge, as per Daily Mail’s claims.
Furthermore, after years of legal wrangling, both parties signed off on the settlement on December 30, marking the end of their drawn-out divorce.
It is worth mentioning that Jolie’s attorney described her as “exhausted but relieved” that this chapter has finally concluded.
