Adele’s hit 2015 song knockoff of Brazilian melody? Court passes order
Adele’s famous song ordered to be removed from mainstream media channels
Adele has seemingly seen a massive hit to her integrity as Brazilian court orders to remove her song globally due to an attempt to plagiarism.
According to The Times, singer-songwriter Toninho Geraes, 62, has called out Adele for copying his 1996 son ‘Mulheres’ and creating her own version with 2015’s ‘Million Years Ago.’
The Brazilian song was originally sung by Martinho da Vila.
A Brazilian court has thus ordered for the Adele song to be axed from radio, television and all streaming platforms globally.
The decision has come from Judge Victor Torres in Rio de Janeiro, instructing Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music to stop “immediately and globally, from using, reproducing, editing, distributing or commercializing the song Million Years Ago by any modality, means, physical or digital support, streaming or sharing platform.”
The case has been looming in the Brazilian county eversince 2021. Adele, meanwhile, has kept mum about the court order.
