Meta-owned platform WhatsApp is rolling out a feature which will let users mention group chats in status updates.

The new feature, which is already available for some beta testers, has been designed to streamline communication by allowing users to notify entire groups through a single mention, reported WABetaInfo.

This eliminates the need to tag individual contacts one by one. In a status update, when a group is mentioned, all participants in that group receive a notification informing them about the mention.

It is ensured by this that group members are promptly alerted and can engage with the shared status update.

Moreover, it’s important to note that even participants, who are not included in the existing privacy settings for status updates, will be temporarily granted access to the specific update where the group was mentioned.

Without requiring additional manual changes to privacy configurations, this adjustment allows the mention to effectively reach the entire group.

Additionally, participants, who are mentioned in the group, can choose to share the status update with their own contacts.
