Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalise divorce
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce finalises 20 weeks after she filed
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially divorced nearly 20 weeks after she filed on August 20.
Lopez, 55, filed for divorce exactly two years after the Georgia ceremony the exes held on August 20, 2022, to celebrate their Las Vegas wedding that took place a month earlier.
She filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court without a lawyer, requesting no spousal support for either party and for attorney’s fees to be split.
Furthermore, the actress noted that the “exact nature” of their community, quasi-community assets, and separate property and obligations are “unknown” and “will be determined.”
The rumours of their relationship going south began in May after the two were not seen together for weeks following a sighting in New York City on March 30.
During that time, Lopez promoted her film Atlas solo and also attended the Met Gala without him. The couple only reunited on family occasions such as the graduation ceremony of Affleck’s daughter Violet, 18—who he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner along with kids Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
Before filing for divorce, Lopez embarked on a European getaway and also spent her birthday without him.
After filing for divorce, the actress made her first public appearance at the premiere of Unstoppable on September 6—which Aflleck despite being co-producer did not attend. He was also busy throughout the split working on The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles.
The exes had another family reunion around that time as Affleck and Lopez were papped at a family lunch together with their kids at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge on September 16.
For those unversed, Lopez and Affleck were previously engaged in November 2002 after they began dating in July of that year. The two then rekindled their romance in 2021. Lopez also shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
