KISS star Gene Simmons on The Beatles: ‘not everybody lasts’

KISS rock star, Gene Simmons put forward his stance on The Beatles.

As per MetalTalk, the iconic artist talked about what he believes it takes to make it in the music industry, given that his own band has been around for over five decades.

“…not everybody has the genes,” Gene told the outlet, adding, “Not everybody can run a marathon. There are some people whose genes, whoseDNA, are more akin to running a short race, which is why very few bands last a long time.

Referring to the legendary band, the Detroit Rock City hitmaker said, “The Beatles lasted seven years, shockingly. We’ve been around 52 years, with different members and all that, because not everybody lasts.”

Additionally, Gene also spoke of how the onscreen identities of the band, from the Demon and the Starchild to the Catman and the Spaceman, came to life.

“It doesn’t happen often, just every once in a while,” he said of the inspiration that had hit him and his KISS rock members.

Gene continued, “That could be a millennia or something just happens when the planets align and you have the right thing at the right place and the right time.”

Stating how he and Paul Stanley saw bands and musicians on TV with a keen eye for aesthetics, he noted, “It’s worth noting we looked at it visually.”

“We wanted to get the songs and everything. But we noticed that the bands we liked, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles, had unique visuals so that if you closed your eyes, you saw it,” Gene Simmons further explained.
