Paris Hilton looks back on iconic ‘What is Walmart?’ moment
The heiress and DJ confessed ‘she was pretending to be in the character’ in the viral scene of ‘The Simple Life’
Paris Hilton set the record straight about the misunderstanding about her part in the iconic ‘What is Walmart?’ moment.
In an exclusive interview with People, the nostalgic pair Hilton and Nicole Richie talked about their new Peacock series Paris & Nicole: The Encore.
While discussing The Simple Life, Hilton reflected on the viral moment from the show where she said “What is Walmart?” after Richie said she heard that “people hang out” at the retail chain.
“That was just me pretending to be the character. I knew what it was,” Hilton clarified.
“We wanted it to be entertaining,” she continued. “We come from Hollywood. We were basically just playing into what we knew that the audience would want.”
Likewise, Richie also clarified one of her past moments on the reality TV hit.
She recalled the scene when the pair was working at a funeral home, she accidentally scattered someone’s remains and had to vacuum them up
“Well, for the record, they were not real ashes,” she noted. “I guess that’s my overall takeaway. They were not real ashes. I would be traumatized if I really did spill someone’s ashes.”
