Matthew McConaughey gets honest about his Texas roots
Matthew McConaughey responds to the question of what ‘Texas meant to him’
Matthew McConaughey has strong roots in Texas as he opens up about his love for home and country lifestyle.
Appearing on the Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios podcast, the host asked about how he felt when he shifted back to Austin from Los Angeles, where he spent the early years of his career.
“What does Texas really mean for you?” the 29-year-old asked. “Home, for me, is where a mile feels like a mile. An hour feels like 60 minutes,” the Interstellar star replied.
“[When] I’m working and I’m really busy, I get ahead of time. You go on vacation to like the Bahamas or something, I get behind [on] time.”
“Home, I feel like I’m on time with relationships, with work — my pace, my flow through life, feels like it is on time,” he continued.
Matthew also recalled the condition he gave to his wife about moving back to their home town from Hollywood.
“’I’m not going back to work unless I get offered roles I want to do,'” the Dallas Club Buyers remembered.
Despite huge stardom, Matthew remained in his homebase Texas with his wife and three children.
